OVERVIEWThe Golfo dei Poeti Relais & Spa is where the three elements that are the essence of our vision of hospitality come together. The three-storey building looks out over the sea and was designed to blend seamlessly into the landscape. Protected by vegetation, it adapts itself perfectly to the slope over Punta Corvo beach, beautifully following the cliff’s lines and nature with a hanging garden on the second level. The Golfo dei Poeti Relais & Spa sits on three hectares of terraced land typical of Liguria, there is water, electricity and Wi-fi everywhere, there are chaise lounges and umbrellas under which to relax. Over the centuries, the Gulf of La Spezia has been a haven of reflection and inspiration for such great poets as Lord Byron and the Shelleys, and for this reason tradition has named it the Gulf of Poets. Today, the Golfo dei Poeti Relais & Spa, a pleasantly isolated hotel, is the ideal place in which to feel inspired and give expression to your innate poetic instincts. It’s a moment for yourself, a place in which you can take your time, live surrounded by creativity, relaxation, discretion and the freedom to enjoy unexpected silence, the ultimate source of inspiration for art and for life. The wellness centre of the Golfo dei Poeti Relais & Spa will make every day you spend exploring the Cinque Terre and the Gulf of La Spezia truly special, with a spa hotel enveloped in fragrances, colours and sensations that await guests like a soft and warm embrace. The sensory showers, sauna and steam baths with aromatherapy, the Kneipp tub: let yourself be pampered with the free use of these spa features. ROOMSThe sea green, sand and yellow shades of your accommodation in Portovenere reflect the light and colors of the Italian Riviera around the Grand Hotel. Simplicity and linearity create a relaxing atmosphere, along with a mix of contemporary and classic styles. Suite del CastelloOur Suite del Castello gets its name from Doria Castle, which sits majestically overlooking the village of Portovenere. Composed of one bedroom, a living area and two bathrooms, our suite offers its guests the chance to bask in the warm Mediterranean sun on the room’s 75sqm terrace while sipping an aperitif. The colors of Portovenere blend in perfectly with the warm colors of the room and the hand-made furnishings of the bathrooms. The terrace has wooden flooring which brings back memories of the old wooden boardwalks of the Gulf of Poets and the palm trees give it an exotic touch similar to Palmaria Island, which is just across the strait. Your panoramic accommodation with sea views near Cinque Terre. Suite dei PoetiThe Suite overlooks the Gulf that has enchanted Poets and Painters from all over the world and from which it takes its name. Its uniqueness consists of a series of continuous horizontal windows, whose view embraces the beautiful landscape framed by Palmaria Island, the Apuan Alps and the beautiful villages of Lerici and Tellaro in the distance. The view is not lost even from the two bathrooms that make up the Suite, along with a bedroom and a separate living room. Cloister Terrace J. SuiteFeaturing a panoramic terrace under the arches that belonged to the cloister of the ancient convent, our Junior Suites showcase the beauty and history of Portovenere. Scriptorium StudioThis room is composed by two separate areas. The living area features a sofa bed and a writing desk reminiscent of the historic convent’s Scriptorium, devoted to the writing of manuscripts by monastic scribes. DININGOur large panoramic terrace is home to our restaurant Palmaria and Venus bar, both open to resident and non-resident guests alike. The hotel’s terrace restaurant and indoor bar faces the sea and offers all meals plus candlelit dinners. The beautiful dining room which serves breakfast in the morning and dinner in the evening is tranquil with its large patio facing to the sea. I could spend hours sitting there watching the world go by. I definitely would have sipped on my coffee for longer with a newspaper and just soaked it all up if it wasn’t for the toddler demanding one of the yummy croissants. The breakfast was lovely but had mainly a large selection of fancy cakes and pastries. The coffee was great and the service made us feel like royalty. Palmaria RestaurantPalmaria Restaurant is based in a spectacular veranda overlooking Portovenere. You will find yourself inside a sort of contemporary sailing ship that is about to sail towards the horizon: the choice of rubberized teak wood flooring, in nautical style, recalls the ancient technique of caulking, ie the waterproofing of the hulls by the numerous master caulkers of the Gulf of Poets. The cushions, made by a local upholsterer, are yellow, pink and green just like the colors of the houses in the village of Portovenere. Venus BarVenus Bar is located under the high-vaulted brick ceilings of the historic building that once hosted the San Francis Convent. This is an ideal place where to have a drink and relax at any point throughout the day. During the warmer months, you can sit on the sea-view terrace and gaze at the beauty of Portovenere and Palmaria Island while enjoying a cocktail prepared by our bartenders. Tastings & Cooking LessonsRefined, panoramic and elegant: Sala Magolia (10 guests) and Sala Moby Dick (20 guests) can host tastings, private dinners and small business meetings. Once the dishes are ready, you will be able to enjoy your culinary creations at lunch, including Liguria’s classic Trofie al Pesto. You will receive a handout with the information necessary to make what you learned during the course. FACILITIESThere is no gym, but the hotel has an agreement with the Portovenere Wellness Center, which offers spa treatments, a hot tub, a sauna, and a small fitness center with a few cardio machines and free weights.
